What to expect

Depart from Rome and spend a full day discovering the fascinating site of Pompei.
You'll leave in the morning from a central location in Rome and you'll travel along the Highway of the Sun, past the famous Roman countryside and the Castelli Romani. On the way, you'll get to admire incredible views of the Mediterranean and Mount Vesuvius. Your first stop will be Naples: this Mediterranean city is famous for its rich history, art, culture and gastronomy. You’ll drive up the Vomero hill to enjoy an amazing view of the town, the bay of Naples and the volcanic area of the Phlegrean Fields. The skyline is dominated by the majestic and still active Vesuvius. It's the perfect spot to take photos of this stunning landmark.

Next, you'll drive down, towards the port of Mergellina to the town of Pompeii. After having a traditional Neapolitan pizza for lunch, you'll make your way to the Unesco archaeological site of Pompeii and you'll enter right away, without waiting in line. You'll spend the afternoon exploring this city frozen in time by layers of volcanic ash, up to 7 meters deep. Once the tour is over you'll enjoy the scenery while driving comfortably back to Rome.
