What to expect

Step into the colourful galleries at the Postal Museum to discover exciting and unexpected stories from five centuries of British and world history through the eyes of the first social network. From an escaped lioness to a five-wheeled cycle and even the odd pistol, too - there's nothing ordinary about the story of the post. Explore the interactive displays to try your hand as a Mail Coach guard, send a message via pneumatic tube or even put your face on a stamp. Your ticket also includes access to the Mail Rail ride and exhibition across the road. Reveal the story of the 100-year-old miniature postal railway. Hear about the people that kept it running before trying your hand at sorting the mail on a travelling Post Office train carriage with its very own wobbly floor.
