Overview Kalbarri's Pink Lake is a unique natural wonder located in Western Australia. This particular species of algae thrives in highly salty environments and produces a red pigment called beta-carotene, which gives the lake its distinctive pink colour. The Pink Lake is also unique because of its location - it sits in the middle of a barren landscape of red sand dunes and is surrounded by the rugged, rocky terrain of Kalbarri National Park.
